Introduction to the Sun Yat-sen Monument: In November of the 17th year of the Republic of China (1928), the Sun Yat-sen Monument was built on Bagui Mountain south of the campus. In 1930, a bronze statue of Sun Yat-sen was erected on the top of the monument. The shape of the monument is unique, using criss-crossing stairs and bronze statues on both sides to form the word "文", which implies the meaning of Sun Wen. On the front of the monument are engraved the four characters of the military academy motto "Dear Sincerity". On the front of the monument are engraved six official characters of "Monument to Premier Sun", written by Hu Hanmin. On the east side are engraved the seven words "Peace, Struggle, Save China" called by Sun Yat-sen when he was dying. The back of the monument is engraved with a portrait of the Prime Minister, which is a portrayal of Sun Yat-sen's life. The west side is engraved with the Prime Minister's precepts, which later became the national anthem of the Republic of China.
