Introduction to the Monument of Zen Master Dinghui at Guifeng in Tang Dynasty: Opposite the bell pavilion, there is the famous "Stele of Zen Master Dinghui at Guifeng in Tang Dynasty" engraved in the ninth year of Dazhong reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty (855). Zen Master Dinghui is the eminent monk Zongmi of the Tang Dynasty and one of the founders of the Huayan Sect. He once wrote books and lectured at Caotang Temple, and became famous for his Zen practice.
