Introduction to the Ape-Man Cave: The first location of the Zhoukoudian site, also known as the "Ape-man Cave", is the famous site where the fossils of Peking Man were unearthed. It was discovered by Swedish geologist Andersson and Austrian paleontologists in 1921 and 1923 Shidansky discovered and conducted test excavations. In 1927, formal excavation began and a well-preserved human lower molar fossil was discovered. Professor Gripp named it "Peking Man".
The first site of the Zhoukoudian site (Ape Man Cave) was originally a natural limestone cave, 140 meters long from east to west, 40 meters wide at its widest point from north to south, 2 meters at its narrowest point in the west, and 40 meters high. It started around 500,000 years ago. , Peking Man has lived here for 200,000 to 400,000 years. The bones, relics, remains of Peking Man, as well as stones from the collapsed roof of the cave and silt flowing in from outside the cave, etc., are layer after layer inside the cave. It was filled up to form a huge accumulation layer (divided into 13 layers in total). Before excavation, the cave had collapsed and became large breccia and rock blocks on the upper part of the accumulation.
