Introduction to the 14th location: The 14th location in Zhoukoudian is located on a low mountain to the south and west of the first location. Because it is rich in fish fossils, the local name is Yuling. The two places are about 2 kilometers apart. The site is 25.9 meters long and 8 meters wide. It is a north-south cave. The accumulation is divided into three layers. The upper layer is the red soil and topsoil accumulated after the cave roof was destroyed. The middle layer is the stalactite layer, and the lower layer is cemented or uncemented. The sediment layer, fish fossils originate from this layer, and are limited to a 1-meter-thick accumulation in the upper part and a thin layer of 14 cm near the bottom. The total number of fish fossils that have been discovered is about 2,000, which are well preserved. You can see the skeleton, Fins, scales, and even the outline of muscles can be seen.
