Boyana Church in Sofia is known as the "jewel in the crown of Sofia" and is the oldest Orthodox church in Bulgaria. The church is world-famous for its murals, which are not only large in number and rich in content, but also have obvious realism in the characters, which are very close to local folk art. They are the most outstanding achievements of medieval Bulgarian art. In 1979, the Boyana Church was included in the World Cultural Heritage List by UNESCO.

Boyana Church is located about 8,000 meters south of Sofia and has a history of several centuries. The church was built in three parts, consisting of three chapels in the east, west and middle.
