Scenic spot introduction:

Alishan is a famous tourist attraction in Taiwan Province, one of the eight scenic spots in Taiwan, and the most ideal summer resort in Taiwan. Sunrise, sea of clouds, sunset, forest and mountain railway are collectively known as the five wonders of Alishan. The flower season of Alishan is from mid-March to mid-April every year. Mountain cherry, Yoshino cherry and double cherry will decorate the whole mountain into a beautiful and colorful sea of flowers. It is the best place to enjoy cherry blossoms in Taiwan.
Alishan Scenic Area is located 75 kilometers east of Chiayi City, Taiwan Province, and spans Nantou County and Chiayi County. Alishan is the general name of 18 mountains, including Dawulian Mountain, Jianshan Mountain, Zhushan Mountain, and Tashan Mountain. It is close to Taiwan's highest peak, Yushan Mountain, in the east. Due to the mild climate in the mountainous area, it is still refreshing and pleasant in midsummer, and the lush forests make it cool and comfortable in summer, which makes it very popular. The most well-known thing in the entire scenic area is Alishan Forest In the recreation area, there are towering old trees on both sides of the trail. Climb halfway up the mountain to see the rolling sea of clouds. As the sun sets, the sky gradually turns red, and the beautiful sunset appears before your eyes. There is also the famous Alishan train, which takes tourists through the forest and breathes the flavor of nature.

Viewing cherry blossoms is a highlight of traveling to Alishan. Fenchihu is one of the good places to visit during the Alishan cherry blossom season. The cherry blossom season starts in mid-February, and various types of cherry blossoms bloom one after another.

Festivals and Events:

1. Mayasbi Festival (Tsou War Festival): Every February, the gods of heaven and war are worshipped with singing and dancing for three days and two nights.

2. Cherry Blossom Season: From March 15th to April 15th every year, mountain cherry blossoms and Yoshino cherry blossoms are the main flowers, making it the first choice for flower viewing in Taiwan.

3. Dance with fireflies: Enjoy spring and summer fireflies from April to June each year, and enjoy autumn and winter fireflies from mid-October to early March of the following year; the best viewing period is one hour after sunset.

4. Tsou Tribe Millet Harvest Festival: Every July and August, the Tsou Tribe celebrates the millet god during their New Year.

5. Gudong Maple Forest: From September to November every year, Lijia Wooden Plank Road and Maple Forest Gorge are the best places to enjoy maple leaves.

6. Tsou Tribe’s Life Bean Festival: Watch the Tsou Tribe’s traditional wedding in November every year.

7. Shanmei Carp Festival: Every October, Danai Valley, outdoor barbecue and camping are available.

8. Tea Mountain Pavilion Festival: Every November, enjoy the pavilions and traditional wood carvings of the Tsou ethnic group.

9. Sunrise Impression Concert: Welcome the New Year and listen to folk music on January 1st every year.

Best time to visit:

Spring is the best time to visit Alishan, as the mountain enters a flower viewing boom every spring.

How to get there:

The Taipei-Alishan bus departs from Taipei at 8:45 pm every Friday and Saturday, and departs from Alishan at 12:30 pm the next day. The journey takes about six hours. In addition, there are many bus routes in Chiayi that can reach the Alishan scenic area.
