The Tibet Museum is located in the southeast corner of the Norbulingka in Lhasa, covering an area of 53,959 square meters and a total construction area of 23,508 square meters. The main building is divided into two parts: the exhibition area and the storage area. The second floor of the exhibition area is the Tibetan history exhibition; the third floor is special exhibitions and temporary exhibitions of thangka, animals, plants, jade, etc.; the first floor is a tourist souvenir shop.
The Tibet Museum has collections including various prehistoric cultural relics, statues of Buddha and Bodhisattva in various textures and shapes, handwritten Tibetan scriptures dipped in gold powder, silver powder, coral powder, etc., gold seals awarded to great living Buddhas by the central government of successive dynasties, the gold urn and jade sticks used in the golden urn drawing ceremony, colorful thangka paintings, various musical instruments and ritual instruments, handicrafts with distinctive ethnic characteristics, unique pottery, and so on.
