Scenic spot introduction:

The Working People's Cultural Palace is located on the east side of Tiananmen Square in Beijing. It is the Ming and Qing Ancestral Temple built in the 18th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1420). Upon Zhou Enlai's proposal and approval at the first Government Affairs Council meeting, the Imperial Ancestral Temple was transferred to the management of the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions and turned into a cultural activity venue for employees. The plaque of the "Beijing Working People's Cultural Palace" was named and inscribed by Mao Zedong on April 30, 1950. It was unveiled on May 1, 1950 and officially opened to the outside world on May 1, 1950. The Imperial Ancestral Temple is rectangular in the north-south direction, with a total construction area of 139,650 square meters. The layout of the entire building is quite original. The three-story glazed brick door, three-story main hall, halberd gate, and stone bridge are arranged on the axis from north to south. Coupled with the closed walls and dense ancient cypresses, it creates a solemn atmosphere. The Imperial Ancestral Temple is the most complete and largest existing royal ancestor worship building complex in China. It is the most important ancestral temple building in ancient times and can be called "the first temple in the world".
