Zhihua Temple is located on the north side of Dongkou Road in Lumicang, Dongcheng District, Beijing. It is an ancient temple in the Ming Dynasty. It was built in the eighth year of Zhengtong in the Ming Dynasty (1443). It was originally a family temple and was later named "Zhihua Temple for Baoen". The roofs of the main buildings in the temple are paved with black glazed tiles. Although they have been repaired many times, the building's beams, brackets, colorful paintings, etc. still maintain the characteristics of the early Ming Dynasty. It is the most complete group of Ming Dynasty temples in Beijing. architecture. The "Zhihua Temple Music", known as the "living fossil of ancient Chinese music", is a rare treasure.

Zhihua Temple faces south from the north. On its axis are the Shanmen, Zhihua Gate, Zhihua Hall, Tathagata Hall, Ten Thousand Buddhas Pavilion, Dabei Hall and other themed buildings. In front of Zhihua Gate are the east-west symmetrical bell tower and drum tower; In front of the hall are the Dazhi Hall and Zang Hall, which are symmetrical from east to west. They are all typical Ming Dynasty Xieshan style buildings. It can be called the largest Ming Dynasty wooden structure building complex in Beijing. The Beijing music of Zhihua Temple was introduced when Zhihua Temple was first built. It uses the Gongchi score of Chinese folk music and is known as the "living fossil of ancient Chinese music."
