Shanxi Changjia Courtyard Travel Guide

Scenic spot introduction:
Shanxi Changjia Courtyard was once the largest residential building in the three Jin Dynasties. It is located in Chewang Village, Dongyang Town, southwest of Yuci, 17.5 kilometers away from Yuci. Chang Zhonglin, the ancestor of the Chang family of Chewang, moved here from Taigu Hui'an in the early years of Hongzhi in the Ming Dynasty to work as a sheep herder. During the Kangxi and Qianlong years of the Qing Dynasty, the seventh generation ancestor Chang Jinquan began to do business. The eighth generation ancestor Chang Wei led the ninth generation Wanji and Wanda to engage in business. The commercial activities were very profitable, and the Chang family gradually became a prominent family in Shanxi and a powerful force among Shanxi merchants. They began to build residential compounds on a large scale. From the reign of Kangxi to the end of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty, after more than 200 years of construction, the Chang family built two main streets, north-south and east-west, on Cherim. On both sides of the street, there are rows of deep houses and courtyards, with towers and pavilions complementing each other, and the carved beams and painted buildings are spectacular. It covers a total area of more than 100 acres, with more than 40 buildings and more than 1,500 houses, connecting the original four natural villages into one. There is a proverb: "The Qiao family has one courtyard, and the Chang family has two streets."Attractions distribution:
