Introduction to Caizhizhai: In the ninth year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1870), Mr. Jin Yinzhi, a native of Henan, set up a stove to boil sugar at the entrance of Zhusi Lane and sold rice dumplings for two for a penny. In the 10th year of Guangxu's reign (1884), Jin Yinzhi rented the front of Caizhizhai Antique Store, and with the assistance of his son, he opened a candy store, selling homemade Suzhou-style candies, roasted seeds and nuts, and candied fruits, and the business was booming. Since there was no store name, customers still called it Cai Zhi Zhai. Jin followed suit and officially hung up the gold-lettered signboard.
