Songkou Town

Scenic spot introduction:

The ancient town of Songkou has a long history and was called Songyang in ancient times. There were activities of ancient Yue ancestors as early as the Neolithic period. Eight Neolithic sites have been discovered so far. During the Southern Song Dynasty, Songkou gradually formed a prosperous small market. After the town was established in the Yuan Dynasty, , it has gradually become an important town in the southwest of Yongtai with dense population, frequent cargo ships and prosperous commercial ports. The Jimen Division established during the Zhizheng period of the Yuan Dynasty was moved to Songkou during the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty and was called "Songkou Division". Songkou is home to outstanding people and was known as "Little Jingzhou" in ancient times. Songkou's ancient dwellings are "miraculous in their variety, quantity, good preservation and high art" and are known as the "Museum of Ancient Folk Residences".

The main attractions are Xiabancuo, Anqian Palace, Songyang Ancient Street, Tianhou Palace, Longkou Cuo, Duangong Bancuo, Xiaxincuo, Wan’an Fort, Ningyuan Village, Zhang His ancestral hall, the former residence of Zhang Yuanqian, etc.

How to get there:

Self-driving route: Start from Fuzhou Baolong City Plaza, pass through the Second Ring Road, Youxizhou Bridge, Pushang Avenue, and Pushang Bridge, turn right into the Third Ring Road, then pass through the Wanbian Bridge and Nanyu Provincial Highway 203, and enter Yongtai County , passing through Geling, Chengguan, Chixi and Wutong to reach Songkou. Fuzhou → 66 kilometers → Yongtai Chengguan → 15 kilometers → Chixi → 18 kilometers → Wutong → 20 kilometers → Songkou
