Scenic spot introduction:

Mount Wutai is one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China, along with Mount Emei in Sichuan, Mount Jiuhua in Anhui, and Mount Putuo in Zhejiang. It is a Chinese Buddhist and tourist attraction, and is listed as the first of the top ten famous summer resorts in China. Mount Wutai is located in the northeast of Shanxi Province, China, 230 kilometers from the provincial capital Taiyuan. In 2009, it was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO as a cultural landscape.
Mount Wutai is named because its five peaks are like five pillars that rise from the ground, and the tops are flat like terraces. It is also called Qingliang Mountain because the climate on the mountain is mostly cold and it is still hot in midsummer. Mount Wutai is full of strange peaks and cliffs, and it ranks first among the four famous Buddhist mountains for its long history and culture and large-scale temple complexes.
As the only Buddhist temple in China that combines Han Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism, Mount Wutai has countless religious artworks in its temples, including Buddha, Bodhisattva, Arhat, attendants, donors, and guardian gods, as well as Confucianism, Taoism, local beliefs, emperors, generals, monks, and lay people. The constant Buddhist activities throughout the year have made this place a real Buddhist world. In midsummer, tourists from home and abroad come here to visit, burn incense, and worship Buddha.
